The Nigerian Youth Alliance against Corruption and Money Laundering (NYACML). Kebbi State chapter has urged all members of the National Assembly to stand against the Tax Reform Bill 2024 presented to it by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a one page press statement made available to newsmen in Birnin-Kebbi on Sunday signed by the North West Zonal Chairman, Nasiru Turakin Masala, positioned that the Tax Reform Bill is highly sensitive and will dominate the people's aspiration.
Adding that apart from being anti-people in nature, the Bill is also capable of being an impediment to State governments by causing more burden on the already suffering masses who are the end users and consumers of all manufactured items in the Country.
"The bill is against our interest and other Sub-Nationals, especially the proposed amendment to the distribution of Value Added Tax (VAT) to derivation -based Model, because Companies remit VAT using location of their headquarters and tax offices and not where the goods are consumed."
"In view of the foregoing, the National Youth Alliance against Corruption and Money Laundering totally rejects the Tax Amendment Bill, because it will increase prices of commodities in Nigeria, which will increase hardship on the Nigerian masses." The statement read.
