Kebbi State like most States in the core North is a predominantly Muslim society.
A handful of Citizens from the South, especially those from the Eastern extraction found of traveling for Ester celebration in their State of Origin could not do so because of prevailing economic situation couple with scarcity of money and other economic challenges.

Mr. Frank Mba who is a major transporter who freight people and goods to various part of Eastern Nigeria told Sunday Tribune that people have decided to remain here, because there is no means to travel. More so family back home have prevailed on their love ones to avoid traveling because of uncertainties.

Meanwhile as Christians in the State prepare for Ester celebrations, food items have doubled in prices. A basket of tomatoes, onions and pepper are two times their prices. Vegetable oil, palm oil are also two times their prices. 

Mrs Emmanuel Atinuke popularly called Iya Seyi who deals with all kinds of provisions at the Birnin-Kebbi Central market told Sunday Tribune that there is low patronages this time around compared to last year.

She explained that naira redesigned which eventually led to none availability of money had worsened situations. She explained further that salary of most civil Servants could no longer feed their family appropriately.

Also at a popular shop in the Central Market called Danfulani, all kinds of household food items are at higher prices. Noddles, milk, sugar, veggies etc, etc, are more than 300% increased.
