Kebbi State Governor Comrade Nasiru Idris has raised an alarm about the high presence of a new terror group called 'Sai Mallam Terrorists Sects' in Argungu.
The Security Adviser to the State Governor, Rtd. Colonel Danladi Ribah, made this known in a goodwill message during a Town Hall meeting between the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, supervising the North West Geo-Political Zone, DIG Suleiman Muhammad Abdul, and Stakeholders in Security, at the Presidential Lodge, Birnin Kebbi, this Wednesday.
Ribah expressed concern about the development, but gave an assurance that the state government, was in consultations with the security Agencies to reverse the situation.
"Without an iota of doubt, 'Sai Mallam' adherents are present in multitude in Argungu, who were earlier detected in Zuru but in lesser numbers",
"Their presence was first detected in Sokoto State, but the Police there were able to curtail them",
"The Governor has adequately continued to provide logistics, material and financial support to all the security services, which have been doing an excellent job to curtail bandits, Lakurawa, Mamudawa and other criminal elements",
"Lakurawa are coming into Kebbi on hit-and-run invasion from Sokoto State and the Republic of Niger; Mamudawa enter our territory from Kwara and Niger states, while bandits attack Kebbi from Zamfara state",
"Kebbi State Government is on top of the situation, we shall continue to do whatever is necessary to safeguard lives and property of our people", Ribah assured.
In a remark, the District Head of Ambursa, Alhaji Isa Haruna Rasheed, admonished Nigerians to stop castigating the nation's leaders on the problem of insecurity in the Federation.
"Stop accusing President Tinubu, Governors and Security Services; the problem of insecurity in the country is a manifestation of our sinful acts against GOD",
"The issue of insecurity is philosophical and spiritual, GOD is not happy about our deeds in private and public",
"we are all sinners, we must repent and seek for forgiveness from the ALMIGHTY LORD, there's light at the end of the tunnel, the problem of insecurity will wane and disappear subsequently, BY THE GRACE OF GOD", the traditional ruler preached.
Alhaji Isa further appealed to the Police High Command to increase funding to State Commands for operational purposes, saying that the lower cadre of the force is suffering because of inadequate welfare care.
Responding, the DIG supervising North West Zone, Suleiman Muhammad Abdul, informed the gathering that, security is capital extensive and intensive.
